The board of directors of Airports of Thailand’s (AOT) yesterday approved the master plan for the development of Chiang Mai airport. The project will be carried out in two phases. The first, set for 2016 to 2025, is aimed at boosting the airport’s passenger capacity to serve 18 million travelers a year. In the second phase, from 2026 to 2030, the capacity will be further increased to serve 20 million passengers per year, of which 8 million will be international passengers and 12 million domestic travelers. Comment: Their issue, just as we have already seen with PS, is that there is a certain limitation to how far a property company can grow in Thailand as Bangkok is the only real targetable market.
