Stocks in the news (ai, aie, ajd, ajp, becl, bjchi, ck, epco, prin, scn, sena, tgpro, trc, tta, weh, xo) 23.01.15

AI
AI confident that net profit this year will grow by 200% driven by strong performance from subsidiary AIE and AI’s earlier investments that are expected to help lower costs by 20%. Revenue this year is expected to hit its target of Bt9bn. (Kao Hoon, 23/01/15)
Comment: These are impressive numbers come out of AI, I’m not sure why at the moment.

AIE
AIE expects revenue to jump to Bt8bn this year due to strong flow of orders. It said that the company’s program to increase efficiency will help lower costs to compensate for the government’s cut in the proportion of biodiesel mixed in oil. (Kao Hoon, 23/01/15)

AJD
AJD says 2014 profit jumped, while revenue from its entertainment business in 2015 is expected to increase by 50% driven by subsidiary, Happy Import-Export, which is expected to produce more than 10 TV shows this year for Channel 7. The subsidiary also plans to apply for a license to be able to sell Thai TV shows in China. AJD plans list this company on mai in 2016. (Kao Hoon, 23/01/15)

Stocks in the news (ai, aot, bcp, ccp, smart, chg, cpn, eforl, gunkul, ifs, ircp, jsp, kmc, ldc, ml, ptt, sport, spali) 20.11.14

AI
Management expects revenue of Bt9bn in 2015 from Bt5bn in 2014 and will invest Bt200mn to increase palm oil production capacity and set up solar power plant with 2.6MW capacity supporting sharp revenue and earnings growth. (Thun Hoon, 20/11/14)
Comment: Another firm that will have a small solar power plant – 2.6 MW means nothing in terms of this company’s bottom line.

AOT
Japan, China to finance AoT project — The Japan International Cooperation Agency and a Chinese bank have offered loans for the Phase 2 expansion of Suvarnabhumi airport, Transport Minister Prajin Juntong said yesterday. Funding for the Bt66bn project is expected to come from the Airports of Thailand (AoT) budget and domestic and foreign financial institutions, he said. (Bangkok Post, 20/11/14)

BCP
BCP expects oil stock loss in 4Q14 due to declining oil price. The company maintains EBITDA target at Bt10bn and plans to use subsidiary NIDO to find 1-2 new oil wells. It plans to invest in a solar power plant with 100MW capacity. (Kao Hoon, 20/11/14)
Comment: Every oil-related firm had a horrible 3Q14 and 4Q14 b/c of the decline in oil prices – but BCP will still go on to have a great 2015 (should there be no huge fluctuations in oil prices)

Stocks in the news (ai, ba, brock, bts, n-park, gold, kland, jas, ppp, rich, rs, sam, smit, spa, susco) 06.10.14

AI
AI expects good 3Q14 net profit of Bt21.85mn due to a higher margin for its porcelain insulator business and no stock loss from the biodiesel business. Management expects revenue of Bt6bn in 2014 and aims to expand overseas. It hopes to obtain power plant construction of Bt1bn. (Thun Hoon, 07/10/14)
Comment: AI has been a strong performer over the past few years because of their expansion into biodiesel and what effectively is a monopoly in their industry for their core products

BA
Airline’s big hope in IPO – Privately-owned Bangkok Airways expects to raise up to Bt14bn in what will be one of Thailand’s largest initial public offerings (IPO). The anticipated proceeds would be 16.5% lower than the amount analysts speculated would be raised based on the expected Bt30/share versus a range of Bt23-27 officially announced yesterday. (Bangkok Post, 07/10/14)
Comment: It looks like appetite for this IPO is waning.

BROCK
BROCK expects higher profit in 3Q14 QoQ as demand for housing has recovered. The company expects revenue of Bt100mn in 2014 due to growing property market. Management said that BROCK will conclude the hotel construction deal with a Korean company in 2015. (Thun Hoon, 07/10/14)

9 Thai firms on Forbes ‘best’ list

forbes_thaicosHere are my thoughts on the above names:

  • Asian Insulators (AI): The recovery in their earnings over the past 3 years have been outstanding, +300% in 2012, +36% last year and 1Q14 was already up +30%.
  • Chularat Hospital (CHG): Potential takeover target for BGH and still a decent performer in the hospital sector
  • Dcon Products (DCON): While their core business is in construction supplies and in theory should benefit from the upcoming infrastructure plans, the stock price will most move the most on the transfer of its condominium projects within the next 18 months
  • Dhipaya Insurance (TIP): Just like with every other insurance firm, TIP is going to benefit from the continued gain in more consumers/businesses using insurance today, just look @ their growth in the past 10 years.
  • Pylon (PYLON): A contractor that focuses on the construction of foundiation works ie. bored piles, ground improvement etc, but when compared to others they are able to maintain a high NPM @ 15% and ROE’s of 30%
  • Southern Concrete Pile (SCP): No one had covered SCP for a long time despite their improvement in performance, its going to be one of the main beneficiaries from all this infrastructure spending on roads etc…
  • STP&I (STPI): A contractor focused on steel fabrication for international markets, with the LNPG industry booming globally, STPI has benefited and will continue to benefit versus competitors around the world.
  • VGI Global Media (VGI): A monopoly for Ad’s on the BTS, they have also successfully expanded into the modern trade sector, and with the acquisition of MACO they will have Out-of-home media as well.
  • Vibhavadee Medical Center (VIBHA): A far smaller version of CHG, yet still profitable and a potential takeover target for BGH

It targets biodiesel production to increase to 900k liters/day and will use one of its subsidiaries to bid for construction of a power plant project worth Bt2bn. Stocks in the news (ai, chg, ck, ptt, singer, ticon, trt) 03.01.14

AI

Huge extra income in 4Q13 — AI will book extraordinary income of more than Bt1bn in 4Q13 from AIE’s IPO. It also said that 2014 will be an uptrend for the insulator manufacturing and engineering business. AIE will be listed in the MAI on Jan 6. (Khao Hoon, 03/01/14)

CHG

CHG may be included in SET100 index. It aims at 2014 revenue growth of 10% YoY and is budgeting Bt950mn for expansion in 2014-2016. (Khao Hoon, 03/01/14)

Comment: You have to laugh when you see Khao Hoon printing such things in the papers, CHG does appear to be a well run outfit, although we still question the sales by management since the IPO, conspiracy theorists assume that its BGH doing the buying.

CK
