Buy(s) THB 303mn

  • EARTH – Rather odd trading activities yet again by this company.

Sell(s) THB 542

  • AMATA – Quite the huge block sale by the founder, THB 300 mn, wonder who bought it? And why would he sell such a sizeable stake?

Stocks in the news (ap, bgh, bts, ccp, csl, ci, fpi, lhbank, lpn, mbket, mill, ps, rci, smart, world) 10.02.15

AP
AP to launch new projects with confidence in the recovery of consumer purchasing power. The company plans to launch 24 new projects worth Bt40bn, focusing on condominium projects along mass transit lines. (Post Today, 10/02/15)
Comment: ANAN has started to take market share away from AP in terms of projects around the Mass transit lines, but AP still has a strong customer base and a good partnership with its own Japanese partner

BGH
New investment by wholly owned subsidiary — Royal Bangkok Healthcare Co., Ltd. (“RBH”), a company in which Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited (BGH) holds 99.99 per cent of total issued shares, plans to invest in General Hospital Products Public Company Limited (“GHP”) whose business is manufacturing of solutions for intravenous infusions i.e. saline solution, glucose and other medical supplies. RBH will purchase the shares from the minority shareholders of GHP and will also subscribe the newly issued shares from GHP, for a total of 40% of total paid up capital of GHP after its capital increase. The total investment amount will not be more than Bt350mn. The payment for those shares will be made in cash. (SET,10/02/2015)
Comment: The hospital machine that is BGH continues to acquire hospitals in Thailand, they are the biggest player and will continue to be

BTS
BTS announced 3QFY15 profit of Bt981mn up 124% YoY and better than the company’s expectation. The cumulative profit for the first nine months was Bt2.265bn, down 81% YoY. (Post Today, 10/02/15)

Stocks in the news (age, bay, bgh, bts, bjc, bliss, bsm, css, cresh, cwt, earth, ecf, itd, sawad, tpch) 06.01.15

AGE
AGE will issue Bt1bn worth of debentures sometime in 1Q15. It plans to use the proceeds to invest in 10 biomass power plant projects with a total capacity of 100MW. It also set a revenue target of Bt9bn for 2015, up from the expected Bt7bn in 2014. (Kao Hoon, 06/01/15)
Comment: This a positive development for AGE, for the longest time I haven’t cared much for the company because it is effectively a trader of coal and only makes a margin per transaction and without capacity increase there has never been a chance for growth. With the expansion into more power plant projects the company’s earnings in 3-5 years from now will be far more stable. It looks like punters have taken this news to heart today with the stock already up 7% as of writing.

BAY
BAY completes integration with BTMU – Bank of Ayudhya (BAY), a member of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), has completed its integration with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) Bangkok branch after one year of preparations. After the integration, MUFG’s ownership of BAY through BTMU increased from 72% to 76.88% as a result of the issuance of 1,281,618,026 common shares by BAY, commonly known as Krungsri, to BTMU. (Bangkok Post, 06/01/15)

BGH
BGH’s share surged on reports Malaysia-based IHH will be acquiring 11.5% in the company. The financial industry estimate total acquisition to be more than Bt20bn. BGH’s management reaffirmed that major shareholders, the Prasarttong-Osoth family, have no plans to sell their shares. (Kao Hoon, 06/01/15) IHH says not true — IHH Healthcare Berhad, after having made due enquiries with all its directors and relevant major shareholders, wishes to announce that IHH has no intention of buying an 11.5% associate stake in Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Pcl at this juncture. If this changes, IHH will make the appropriate announcement to Malaysia’s stock market. (Bursa Malaysia, 05/01/15)
Comment: I’ll buy BGH again when there is another crisis, at these levels the growth, revenue/bed whatever metric you look at, it’s still too expensive.

BEAUTY
BEAUTY reported 3Q14 net profit of Bt81.3mn, +68.4% YoY. The company is preparing to launch a new marketing campaign in 4Q14 to stimulate sales and is confident that revenue will grow 30% YoY in 2014 with widen net profit margin to at least 20%. (Kao Hoon, 13/11/14)
Comment: One of the few companies to have fantastic performance this 3Q14. And admittedly it is one that I’ve missed.

BGH
BGH has six M&A deals planned for Q1 — SET-listed Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Plc (BGH), Thailand’s largest hospital group, has planned merger and acquisition deals with six local hospitals in the first quarter of next year. (Bangkok Post ,13/11/14)
Comment: The M&A machine that is BGH continues, I still wouldn’t be surprised to see them to a hospital REIT in the future (not that they need the cash)

CPN
Central Pattana plots more malls in Bangkok and upcountry – SET-listed shopping project developer Central Pattana Plc (CPN), a property arm of Central Group, is set to double the number of its domestic malls to around 50 by 2024. The company seeks to open 20 retail projects from 2018-24 that will require an investment of Bt15bn a year. (Bangkok Post ,13/11/14)
Comment: Mall Group can’t catch up with CPN no matter how hard they have recently started trying.
