Suvarnabhumi expects bids by October – The long-awaited expansion of Suvarnabhumi airport is slated to have an auction for contractors in October, with construction starting by February, says president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn of the state-controlled Airports of Thailand (AoT). BJCHI plans to bid for a new job worth Bt20bn and expects to get this job. This will increase its backlog from Bt3.1bn. It expects 2016 revenue to achieve its target growth of 15% from Bt5.7bn in 2015, supported by more new orders. (Thun Hoon, 15/09/16)
BRR
BRR expects 2016 revenue and profit to be stable from last year backed by a recovery in sugar price in 2H16. It has now switched to FiT for its power business and this will boost revenue by 20% and lift the proportion of revenue from power to 10%. It plans to set up a fund worth Bt3.6bn next year. Comment: Could sugar names be the biggest turnaround story next year? Like the O&G and Food names this year. 
 
CBG
CBG expects 2H16 earnings to be good after reporting 1H16 revenue of Bt4.48bn supported by demand from home and abroad. It expects 2016 sales to grow 20% from last year due to more customers. It has budgeted Bt2.61bn to increase can and bottle production capacity. (Thun Hoon, 15/09/16)

BECL/BMCL The cabinet has approved the amalgamation of BECL and BMCL with a new ticker, BEM. BECL will hold a joint shareholder meeting (BECL-BMCL) on Dec 28. Trading in BECL and BMCL shares will be suspended from Dec 21-30. (Thun Hoon, 09/12/15)
Comment: I am absolutely curious to see if BEM will become a must have investment for institutional investors, it just sounds right.

CBG is talking to a prospective partner in Indonesia which it expects to finalize in 1Q16. It expects this to increase its exports. It expects 2015 net profit to mark a new high backed by numerous orders. It expects 2016 revenue to grow 10% from this year. (Thun Hoon, 09/12/15)

CK bids lowest for Bt23.4bn dual-track project (Jira – Khon Kaen). It expects to sign the contract with the SRT this year, as well as the Chachoengsao – Kang Koi dual-track project. It expects the SRT to ask approval from the cabinet on Dec 15. (Khao Hoon, 09/12/15)

Random Thoughts: A week of rumours and silliness

What a week this has been, firstly we started off with rumours in regards to Europe somehow banning Thai businesses and citizens. Where on earth could this have come from? Who would have believed this (a lot of people it seems) But what was the impact? The market suddenly dropped by -1% after the midday break, with names such as CBG decreasing 8% that day (and hasn’t bounced back since) and it resulted in the Junta’s favourite marketing man, Somkid, quickly running out from Phatra’s Thai focus investment day to deal with these silly rumours.

ARROW reported 2Q15 earnings of Bt56mn (+92%YoY). It plans to pay an interim dividend of Bt0.15/share, XD on Aug 21. It targets 2015 revenue growth of 20%. (Khao Hoon, 13/08/15)
Comment: And somehow this little company continues to rack up decent earnings growth inspite of the overall economic situation.

BBL
BBL sees Chinese corporations becoming some of its major Vietnam customers after seeing greater direct investment activities by them. It targets 2015 Vietnam loan growth of 14% after it achieving 7-8% in 1H15. (Thun Hoon, 13/08/15)
Comment: Perhaps more of a regional play at the moment, without a doubt the Chinese are the largest investors in Vietnam

BIG
BIG reported 2Q15 earnings of Bt70.8mn. It expects revenue and net profit to grow steadily. It plans to launch a marketing campaign to boost sales. It is confident 2015 revenue will achieve its target growth of 10%. (Khao Hoon, 13/08/15)

AKR expects to get 20MW solar power from the 800MW up for bid. It expects to recognize revenue from power plants in 2016. It expects a net profit in 2Q15, backed by a large backlog. Comment: AQ’s stock price has already valued in all of its potential earnings and revenues.

BSM
BSM to introduce new product expected to add 20% to revenue. It expects its business to continue to grow in the second half of the year. 3Q15 earnings may hit a record high due to government projects. BSM plans to expand its international market to 25%. (Thun Hoon, 19/05/15)

CBG
1Q15 earnings surged 40% with revenue growing 20%, benefitting from increasing international sales and decreasing interest expense. 2Q15 earnings are expect to also rise. It plans to invest Bt600mn to increase capacity and DC. (Thun Hoon, 19/05/15)
Comment: It’s been on a cost cutting basis that CBG has been able to grow this strongly.

CPF
CPF announced 1Q15 profit of Bt2.96bn (44% growth). It plans to increase investment in Cambodia after its shareholders approved a raise in stake from 25% to 100%. The deal is expected to finalize in 2Q15. (Khao Hoon, 19/05/15)
Comment: Quite interesting to see that THB 2 bn of profits came from trading CPALL and TRUE and another THB 1 bn came from sales of land, thus in reality they lost THB 1 bn
