Expects to get project in Brazil worth Bt4-5bn in May. 1Q15 earnings will be released in this week. (Khao Hoon, 11/05/15)
Comment: Even though oil prices have dropped, it hasn’t appeared to hurt BJCHI at all just yet.

1Q15 earnings surged 83%YoY to Bt57mn with total revenue of Bt361mn. Management says “Boon-term” machines are growing more than expected, rising to 47,392 machines in 1Q15 from 34,996 in 1Q14. Boon-term machines provide many services that boost revenue, so it has raised its target top up to Bt15bn in this year. The firm continues to look for other channels to build revenue. (Thun Hoon, 11/05/15)
Comment: Still an amazing business model, valuations are getting a bit rich now.

1Q15 earnings will be released today. Profit is expected to reach Bt4.2bn, 6%YoY growth, backed by greater profit at THCOM and ADVANC. (Khao Hoon, 11/05/15)

Stocks in the news (aot, abc, cho, css, delta, demco, drt, gl, hemraj, jas, ncl, nmg, ple, salee, samco, sawad, scc, super) 30.04.15

AOT revises down investment for Suvarnabhumi Phase 2 by Bt10bn from Bt62bn. The bidding will begin at the end of this year. Revenue is expected to grow 15% this year because of the increase in passengers. The Ministry of Finance is requiring a higher dividend but this does not affect its performance. (Khao Hoon 30/04/15)
Comment: Is the decrease because they have stamped out some corruption or really because Thailand has no $ and the MOF needs the cash.

Profit this year because ABC plans to sell 4,000 rai at Cha-am Hua-Hin with a gross margin of 70-80%. It will begin to sell in in 3Q15. It will eliminate retained losses of over Bt50mn and pay its first dividend in ten years. (Thun Hoon 30/04/15)
Comment: Will they be selling the land on their magical ecommerce website?

Cash dividend of Bt0.0605/share approved, payment on May 27. Khun Surachet Thaweesaengsakulchi says revenue will rise at least 15% YoY on the benefit from raising backlog to Bt600mn. It expects to book revenue this year. It is also prepared to bid for numerous projects. (Thun Hoon 30/04/15)

Capital increase to Bt587.99mn was approved by shareholders. This will back the stock dividend of 5 existing shares for 1 dividend share or equal to a cash dividend of Bt0.1 per share. CSS shareholders also approved to buy Neonwork Communication. It says its business continues to trend up. It has set this year’s revenue target at Bt4.8-5bn. (Thun Hoon 30/04/15)

Children fighting @ NMG’s AGM

The funniest scene emerged at NMG’s AGM yesterday where police were called in to prevent a portion of shareholders, specifically the SLC group, or News Network as they now call themselves, from entering the AGM.

This sparked chaos in front of the meeting room as the angry shareholders tried to break into the room. This led to the arrival of 50 police officers from nearby police stations who came to control the intense situation and prevent a confrontation.

Now I have a few issues with how this all went down:

1. Shareholders, no matter what their agenda, should always be allowed into an AGM, NMG was definitely wrong in this case.

2. Board members are elected by shareholders, NMG has to respect this law

3. If they were so worried about News Network electing a member to the board, so what? In theory they only own 12% of the shares, 75% of attending shareholders need to pass it by Thai law, and even if 1 additional member is added to the board, again so what?

4. The obvious hypocrisy from NMG is that, it is a publicly listed company, it has raised funds from the public multiple times, and now that the some shareholders perhaps want some change, NMG is barring them from having a voice, sooooo, yeah a bit unfair.

It’s quite humourous and yet sad to see that minority shareholders viewpoints are respected.

Disclosure: I’m not a shareholder in either co.

Digital TV finally gets a break

The Digital TV Industry has been having its own version of battle royale with the competition for ratings sending bidding prices for new shows through the roof and if you look at every company related to digital tv, all of their earnings were poor in 2014 and 1Q15, as a result of this they have essentially gotten together to sue the NBTC into doing something to save the industry from disaster and it looks like they’ve won the first step.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) board has agreed to postpone digital TV operators’ second licence fee payment for another year.
Secretary–general Takorn Tantasith said the telecommunications regulator yesterday decided to postpone the second licence fee payment, totalling 8.7 billion baht and due on May 24, for a year to help reduce the financial burden on digital TV operators.

Thus it’s good news for WORK, RS, GRAMMY, BEC, MCOT, MONO, NMG and several other players.

ARROW expects strong 1Q15 earnings backed by rising revenue. It expects 20% revenue growth this year and has a chance to get one of the Red Line contracts value at Bt40mn. (Kao Hoon, 19/03/15)

Subsidiary CP Retail Link Co., Ltd. expects 2015 revenue of Bt3.4bn or 15% YoY growth from last year and will expand over 50 service centers this year. (Kao Hoon, 19/03/15)

JMT plans to bid for the new bad loan portfolio worth of Bt10bn. The company has about Bt62bn loans currently which it expects to book as revenue through 2020. This year the firm expects 50% earnings growth driven by better collection of bad loans. (Kao Hoon, 19/03/15)
Comment: The issue with JMT is that despite its absolutely amazing growth, they will need to raise additional capital to continue growing at this pace.

New entity for duty-free – perhaps. The Minister of Transportation met with management of Korea’s Lotte, which wants to run a duty free business at Thailand’s airports and in towns. The Thai government is promoting fair competition in the duty-free business, but has to study conditions with King Power Duty Co., who has the duty-free concession at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Muang and Phuket. H has ordered AOT to find a way for newcomers to set up duty-free shops in towns, with clients able to pick up their purchases at airports. (Xinhua, 10/01/15)
Comment: They want fair competition and yet still have to study the deal with King Power? Erm, King Power is a MONOPOLY I don’t think much study is needed…

Plan to invest in waste power plant approved. BGW’s board has approved a Bt1.2bn investment in a 9.4MW waste power plant at Kaeng Khoi, in Saraburi province. (Thun Hoon, 19/01/15)

CIMBT focusing on SME market as its yield is double compared to loans to larger corporations. It plans to increase fee income to 30% of its revenue over the next five years and expects loan growth in 2015 of 16-17% or Bt8.3bn. It expects NPLs to stay low at 0.4%. (Thun Setakit, 18-21/01/15)
