Management Trades 01/06 – 12/06

Notable Transactions

Buy(s) THB 717 mn

  • PF – The CEO buys a huge value, must’ve been an off the market transaction
  • BA – And the owner still continues to buy back shares, again a huge value of THB 154 mn
  • MINT – Heinecke obviously thinks the shares and warrants are a decent buy at these levels (note: the average price incl’s the warrant price)
  • IEC – Punting part deux? or is it part 20?
  • TVD – Always been wondering when this company will turn a decent profit

Sell(s) THB 663 mn

  • PSL – I think she’s unloading the shares to subscribe to the offering
  • TICON – If this director sells this number of shares, should we be worried about TICON?
  • PTG – A star performer for me in the past year, not surprised to see owners sell off some shares.

Comment: I still have extreme doubts on ABC’s business, perhaps they’ll allow us to redeem credit card points to purchase the property projects they are also planning on doing?

BMCL
Blue Line negotiations, not bids – The cabinet has given the green light to the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to negotiate with BMCL with regards to operating the Blue Line extension. In addition, the Transport Minister is ready to bring back the Joint-Venture 2013 law between state enterprises and private operators. (Thai Rath, 05/03/15)
Comment: This should be a positive for BMCL, cuts out a lot of unnecessary redtape

AKR
2015 to be a good year — AKR says business will be strong in 2015 with revenue expected to grow 30%, supported by the government’s plan for alternative energy projects. Further, it will start booking revenue from solar panel sales. It is waiting for results on its bid to supply an electricity transformer worth more than Bt3bn. (Thun Hoon, 07/01/15)
Comment: I’m not sure that AKR has a competitive advantage in this industry versus what Demco, TRT and others, but perhaps there is just too much business going on that they’ll have a piece of the pie.

ANAN
ANAN sets up subsidiary, Ananda MF Asia Samyan, to develop a high rise condominium worth Bt8bn. It expects to book Bt4.71bn of backlog and has set its 2015 revenue target at Bt12-12.5bn. (Kao Hoon, 07/01/15)
Comment: I still like ANAN, easy #’s if you ask me.

BTC

ADVANC
ADVANC plans to pay DPS of Bt6.04, XD 13 August, though its 1H14 net profit declined to Bt17,96bn due to higher depreciation and amortization. Its 3G clients increased to 34.4mn but the company reduced revenue growth target to 1-2% YoY in 2014. (Kao Hoon, 05/08/14)
Comment: ADVANC has been an easy trade in the past 2 weeks with the news of the government postponing 4G plus the fine against it.
AP
AP: good performance in 2Q14 due to higher revenue and presales. It will launch eight new projects worth Bt7.86bn in 2H14 and targets revenue and presales of Bt21bn in 2014. (Thun Hoon, 05/08/14)
Comment: Similar story to every decently sized property firm in Thailand, horrible 1H14 and an improving 2H14 and 2015
BCP
Bangchak offers B3.6bn for complete takeover of Nido – SET-listed Bangchak Petroleum Plc (BCP), a majority state-owned refiner, has offered to buy the remaining shares in Nido Petroleum Ltd for A$98.2mn (Bt2.94bn). This makes the total takeover of the Australian petroleum exploration firm worth about Bt3.6bn. (Bangkok Post, 05/08/14)
Comment: Overall a small impact on BCP’s bottom line

AOT

AOT waiting for NCPO approval of City Airport project worth over Bt18bn. Two more of its board members have resigned as the management shakeup continues. (Thai Post, 13/06/14)

Comment: I hope, I dearly hope, that the military will not be corrupt.

DTAC

NBTC takes aim at DTAC with 4G cap – The national telecom regulator is floating the idea of blocking bidders with spectrum holdings above 25 megahertz of bandwidth on the 1800-MHz spectrum from taking part in the August auction for fourth-generation (4G) mobile broadband service. (Bangkok Post, 13/06/14)

Comment: It’s quite funny how this turned out for DTAC, if I were an investor in Telenor I’d say well done for corp governance and being transparent towards shareholders. In the end I still think DTAC would be able to participate.

BMCL

MRT fares discussed — The Permanent Secretary of Transport says he has talked with BMCL and asked it to leave fares unchanged for another three months, to line up with NCPO efforts to lower cost of living. BMCL had applied for a fare rise. (ASTV Manager, 13/06/14)
