ESSO plans to invest in high return businesses to wipe out retained losses of Bt8.35bn. It targets oil retail sales to grow 9% because of high demand as oil prices fall. It plans to launch Diesel Plus and gasohol E20 in order to raise margin. (Thun Hoon, 03/02/16)
Comment: If you look at what just happened to Shell Malaysia, it makes one a bit worried about touching any oil related names @ the moment (Shell HQ sold their 51% stake in the m’asia listed co @ a 65% discount to mkt price..)

GC
GC is talking to a prospective local partner to launch new products. It expects a decision to be made soon. It targets 2016 revenue growth of 5%, supported by large numbers of orders and a weaker baht. (Thun Hoon, 03/02/16)

JASIF
JASIF will pay 4Q15 dividend of Bt0.22/share, PD on March 2. This brings 2015 dividend to Bt0.74/share or 8.31% dividend yield. (Khao Hoon, 03/02/16)

AKR expects to get 20MW solar power from the 800MW up for bid. It expects to recognize revenue from power plants in 2016. It expects a net profit in 2Q15, backed by a large backlog. DCON expects dramatic earnings growth over the next few years. Within the next ten days, it plans to set up a joint venture for a new plant in Cambodia. Comment: It’s the power plant and the residential projects that are the short term EPS drivers here.

DEMCO
Gets new project producing electric wire worth Bt871mn. This will raise backlog to more than Bt5bn. Solar farm projects will generate about Bt1.75bn. 1Q15 is expected to be strong. (Khao Hoon, 17/04/15)
Comment: DEMCO should always continue to win work in any power related project, especially renewable energy projects.

FANCY
FANCY reports three major shareholders sold 28.46% of total shares via big-lot transaction to two new investors at Bt3.5/share. Management says this will not affect the controlling power of the existing major shareholders and the company’s business plan for particle board production and rubber wood in Surat Thani. Comment: It’s been a dying industry for a long time and I don’t see things changing.

HEMRAJ
HEMRAJ says land demand has been recovering since early 2015. Demand is being seen from both existing and new clients. It expects to sell 1,400 this year and is developing new land for potential clients. It plans to restructure after the end of the tender offer by WHA in March. (Thun Hoon, 12/03/15)
Comment: The question is how many assets will be sold by HEMRAJ in order to help WHA fund the acquisition? The Koh Lan is apparently being sold + a REIT will be set up for its factories + their office building could still be sold.

AoT hosts ASEAN airports forum – Leaders of Southeast Asian airport authorities will congregate in Phuket today and tomorrow for talks on airport development and environmental management. Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) will play host to the ASEAN Airport CEOs Forum 2014 and the second AAA Environmental Working Group Meeting, which will feature the theme of “A Sustainable Mind for One ASEAN Sky”. Participants include chief executives and senior management of airport operators from the 10 ASEAN members: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam and Thailand. Banpu wins appeal over Siva payout — The dispute between Banpu, one of Asia’s largest coal producers, and Siva Nganthavee over the coal-fired power plant Hongsa project in Laos is far from reaching a conclusion after the Appeals Court overturned the Civil Court’s ruling ordering Banpu to pay compensation to the plaintiff. Comment: This has been an overhang on banpu’s stock plus coal prices have been declining.

BEC
Channel 3 to appeal NBTC’s order – Channel 3 is likely to appeal against a 15-day time limit imposed on cable and satellite TV broadcasts of its analogue content. (Bangkok Post, 10/09/14)

Central Festival Chiang Mai opening November 14 — CPN will open Central Festival Chiangmai, its 22nd retail outlet, worth more than Bt7bn, on November 14. This will be the north’s largest shopping mall. The company will partner up on promotional campaigns. (Khao Hoon, 05/11/13)

GL

GL to buy Cambodian firm- SET-listed Group Lease Plc (GL) plans to acquire a microfinance company in Cambodia as part of its effort to boost overseas revenue to more than 50% by 2015. Should the deal go through, GL will become the majority shareholder in the Cambodian firm with a 80% stake. The microfinance firm has Bt2bn in outstanding loans and a customer base of 150,000 accounts. (Bangkok Post, 05/11/13)

KBANK

Targets 9-11% loan growth in 2014 — KBANK targets 2014 loan growth at 9-11% and plans to cut NPLs to 2.2%, and targets non interest income growth of 15%, with a larger contribution from bancassurance. Another small IPO

Just saw this on biznews the other day. Now I’m not promoting this in anyway, but I’ll draw attention to the size of the IPO, its 44 mil shares @ THB 1.30/share, a massive amount @ THB 57.2 mn (yes i’m being sarcastic). Look its a small IPO, the stock price will most likely pop up when it opens, its nearly impossible to get any shares in this unless one is close to the company or the FA and I can guarantee that the management of the SET/MAI will point to the successes of new IPOs.

I’m very happy to see more companies going public as it helps to develop Thailand’s capital markets, and I’m not doubting this company’s ability to in its business, but just be wary when people begin touting about how well IPOs perform…
