AOT
Admits to traffic fall in 1H14 — AOT says the political situation has pressured passenger traffic down in 1H14 to the point where management is not certain it will meet its revenue growth target of 10% YoY. It is considering reducing landing fees to give airlines an incentive to come to Thailand. (Khao Hoon, 24/04/14)
Comment: Without a doubt tourism has declined in the 1H14, but there it hasn’t been disastrous as a lot of people have expected.

PTTEP
PTTEP fully acquires Thai unit of Hess in US$1bn deal – PTT has fully acquired the US-based Hess Corporation’s Thai unit for US$1bn. The acquisition is a strategic fit to PTTEP growth strategy by adding producing assets, accretion of volume growth and reserves and strengthening its investment in Thailand. (Bangkok Post, 24/04/14)
Comment: A lot of people have commented that this is a great deal for Hess and not so much for PTTEP

SENA
Corrects dividend — SENA has corrected the amount of its dividend. It will pay a 2013 final dividend of Bt0.103 from 2013 total dividend of Bt0.151; it already paid an interim dividend of Bt0.048. (Thun Hoon, 24/04/14)
Comment: A rather funny error to make by a company isn’t it?

TASCO
TASCO expects a turnaround in profit in 1Q14 after posting a loss of Bt50mn in the previous quarter driven by more orders from foreign customers as they continue to stock up. It is confident that sales this year will grow by at least 10%. (Tun Hoon, 24/04/14)
Comment: The issue for this company has been that on a quarterly basis the earnings are quite volatile, last year because of forex reasons and the year before it was volatility in commodity prices, but once this is fixed then I wouldn’t be surprised to see this undervalued stock rerate.

VGI
Line to advertise on BTS — VGI announced that the application maker Line has decided to advertise through VGI on the BTS after the company decided to set up an office in Thailand to stimulate use of the application and help support the growing number of Thai users, which have recently surpassed 24mn and is now second place behind Japan.
