Stocks in the news (dmt, pttep, smt, stgt, tisco, zmico, xpg) 07.05.21
DMT: tollway operator, Don Muang tollway, debut IPO 140m shares at Bt16 apiece.
Comment: Nothing sexy here, though perhaps they could make a story in the future about setting up an infrastructure fund with this asset.
PTTEP: upbeat 2Q earnings from higher average gas sales volume above 416kbpd supported by Oman block 61 projects, targets final investment decision on 600mw integrated gas to power projects in Myanmar early FY22.
Comment: I have a very simple viewpoint on this, precovid it was 140-150 with brent and gas prices lower than where they are today, and today its 120.
SMT: 1Qnp at Bt51.81m vs Bt30m loss 1Q20, sales +40% yoy thanks to strong demand for IC, Optics & PCBA.
STGT: to resume rubber gloves production plant by end of May following shutdown from fire incident since February, will cod 2 new plants in 2H.
TISCO: ECL coverage at 222% end of 1Q21 sufficient to tackle NPL up to 3.5%-4%.
Comment: I’m still dumbfounded.
ZMICO: company name change to XSpring Capital, ticker change to XPG, effective today.
Comment: They are aiming to become the coinbase/binance of Thailand. Let’s see what unfolds.
SJ
Think ZMICO are looking to be more TZERO as opposed to coinbase/binance. Asset tokenization seems to be more their angle. Would be interesting to see what happens.
Pon
Yes correct, rumours have it that you’ll see the SEC approve their business model, Sansiri likely to be the first project.
SJ
If Sansiri is in the mix, would be some decent backing… Observing with interest!
